How much of my spline should be showing? [2]

More specifically people will ask “How much of the blue should be showing?”. The blue doesn’t matter, it doesn’t always start in the same spot so you should really be looking at how much spline is showing
For Tom Wood’s drive shafts there are mainly two types of spline; the S spline and the X spline. If you have the S spline, there should be about 1.5″ of the smooth bar showing
As long as you are within a half an inch or so of these numbers, consider your shaft a good fit. If the amount of spline you have visible is much more or less than what is recommended, you may need to have your shaft lengthened or shortened.

How to Measure For a Custom Driveshaft [7]

We are very pleased to announce that we are now offering custom 1 piece driveshaft solutions for any one of your vehicles, project or daily, mild or wild.. This procedure is very straight forward and is in whole reliant on accurate measurements
If your vehicle is equipped with a solid rear axle, measurement must be taken with the vehicle at ride height or with the suspension in its normally compressed position.. Upon measurement please be sure to take measurements from the seal of the transmission and not the protruding dust boot, many transmissions like the t56/TKO/t56 Magnum etc will have a dust boot that can be mistaken for the seal
The image below shows a seal with a integrated dust boot, the black portion is the dust boot and the red is the actual seal from which measurements should be taken.. We offer two options for material, steel and aluminum if you opt for the aluminum, please be aware it will only be available in 3.5″ diameter and is intended for lightweight racing applications ONLY.

How To Measure Driver Shaft Length (Images + Video) [11]

You can measure driver shaft length using a regular tape measure, but knowing exactly how to measure driver shaft length is a bit more complicated. Golf club, and especially driver, manufacturing is as much science as it is craftsmanship, so measurements are precise.
– Position your driver on the ground in the typical setup for hitting a golf ball.. – Place a measuring stick or tape measure, preferably 48 inches long, on the ground.
Measuring your driver will help you optimize your drives, so you get the most distance without sacrificing accuracy. As long as you measure with the same degree of care and methodology that all clubmakers do, you can get the most out of your tee shots no matter what kind of clubhead you have attached.

How to Select and Order Custom Length Driveshaft Kits [13]

How to Select and Order Custom Length Driveshaft Kits. Over the last hundred years or so, hot rodders and racers have invented an almost endless combination of cars, engines, transmissions, and rear axles
And when the dust has settled and all the custom fabrication and clever shoehorning is complete, every project (at least every project being driven by the proper pair of wheels) is going to need a driveshaft. Until now, that meant finding a local driveshaft shop and either hoping they understand the measurements you’ve given them sketched out on a napkin or trailering your project to their shop and leaving it with them to make and install a driveshaft
We’ve taken away all the guesswork (and the need to borrow your friend’s car trailer). Simply take a few measurements as detailed in this article, place your order, and a few days later a custom-made driveshaft will be delivered to your door.

Driveshaft Set-Up and Measuring [14]

|There’s more than meets the eye when it comes to setting up and measuring for a U-joint equipped drive shaft. While the driveshaft allows for movement of the rear end there are also important operating angles and shaft length criteria that must be adhered to
In a perfect world the centerline of the transmission output shaft would be exactly parallel to the pinion centerline on both vertical and horizontal planes (but not “pointed” at each other). But for most applications, there will be some offset
A simple method that can be employed to ensure that the trans output shaft and pinion are parallel is to place a digital angle finder on a machined surface of the engine block (i.e. Using a floor jack, raise the front or rear of the car as needed to bring the angle finder to zero (note: if the rear needs to come up jack under the housing)

SHAFTEC ADVISES HOW TO MEASURE A DRIVESHAFT… [15]

Shaftec will introduce a further 38 caliper references and four new driveshafts to its ever-growing portfolio in August.. As part of its objective to inject free technical information into the aftermarket, this month, Shaftec advises how to measure a driveshaft
parts explains why, for fitment purposes, it is so important to get the measurements right.. This helpful guide follows the introduction of 69 new part numbers last month, and a further two in April (C303L and C303R) This month’s offer covers 13 applications and caters for a range of Citroen and Peugeot models.
Its purpose is to deliver torque from the transmission to the differential, which then transmits torque to the wheels which allow the vehicle to move.. Although the length of driveshafts can vary significantly – which is clearly crucial for fitment purposes – the diameter of the bar isn’t so much of an issue in most cases as the strength comes from the quality and grade of the steel used.

How to Measure for a Custom Drive Shaft | REVKIT [16]

This video will walk you through the steps showing how to take measurements for almost any type of drive shaft.. Over the years, we have built well over 10,000 drive shafts for the Jeep Wrangler JK alone
We know that there are often consistently standard lengths for some vehicles, but we also know that some vehicles have wild variations in drive shaft lengths. Rather than get into all the details of all the different vehicles, I will address the low hanging fruit, the Jeep Wrangler JK.
3” is 3” though, right? It shouldn’t matter whose 3” lift you install, the length will end up being the same, right? Wrong. Control arms are basically the pivot arms that horizontally attach your axle to the frame

Dynotech Driveshafts: How To Measure For A Custom Driveshaft [17]

One aspect of modifying a vehicle, that is sometimes an afterthought, is replacing the driveshaft because the original driveshaft no longer fits. Sometimes it’s because you’ve swapped an engine or trans, and other times it’s because you’ve swapped a rear differential, but when your original driveshaft ends up being too long or too short, it becomes time to break out the ruler and tape measure – because you can’t just roll your car down to the shop to have them measure it.
Dynotech Driveshafts has put together a list for instructions that provide you with everything you need to replace your driveshaft.. If you thought that it was as simple as having just one measurement, guess again
When doing the measurements, be sure that the vehicle’s suspension is fully loaded, meaning it must be at ride height. You can put your car on ramps if you can’t crawl under it, but the measurements need to be taken without the suspension hanging in mid-air.

The drive shaft is a component of the drive train in a vehicle and is located next to the car’s wheels
Although the length of driveshafts can vary significantly – which is clearly crucial for fitment purposes – the diameter of the bar isn’t so much of an issue in most cases as the strength comes from the quality and grade of the steel used.. In general, driveshafts are a bespoke component, individually designed to suit the make and marque of vehicle to ensure it can handle the power and torque that the vehicle can produce

How to Measure Driveshaft length for your T56 magnum swaps [19]

One of the most common questions I get is how to measure for your driveshaft.. The way I prefer you to do this is to take the end of the tap, and put it on the face of your rear differential flange, then pull the tape up to the transmission, and take a picture so I can verify the measurement.
You are NOT measuring to the tip of the seal, NOT measuring to the back of the output shaft, but to the back of the tailcase where the seal base is held in place.. The seal on the T56’s has a “boot” which protudes backwards, this is not where the seal actually resides, so you need to measure from the base of the seal.
If you have a flat output flange on both your transmission and diff, this is what you are measuring:. If you have a pinion flange that uses u-bolts or straps (like a 9″ FORD) then you will be measuring like so:
